South Austin murder suspect caught in Bastrop County

BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) – The man who police believe is responsible for the shooting death of an employee at a South Austin storage facility is behind bars in Bastrop County.

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office said they received an anonymous tip early Tuesday morning on the whereabouts of Darius Edward Bailey, 18. Information provided lead deputies to a home on Cynthia Drive, where deputies arrested Bailey. Bailey was booked into the county jail where he is being held on a murder charge and $750,000 bond.

Police announced they were looking for Bailey shortly after the Nov. 12 shooting at Absolute Stor-N-Lock in the 1600 block of Matthews Lane.

According to an affidavit for his Bailey’s arrest, Richard Rosenberg was discovered with a gunshot wound by his son. His son told police he saw Bailey with his father just minutes prior.

Surveillance footage from the storage unit showed Rosenberg arrive with an unknown man and Bailey.Rosenberg and Bailey seem to get into disturbance off camera. Bailey can then be seen leaving on a motorcycle.
