Man found in Lady Bird Lake was a UT graduate student

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A body that was found in Lady Bird Lake Sunday morning has been identified as 23-year-old Santiago Gonzalez Becerra. The cause of death is still being investigated but the Medical Examiner’s office reported no suspicious trauma to the body.

Becerra’s sister reported him missing on Nov. 26 to the University of Texas Police Department. The university says Becerra was a graduate student in the Accounting-Professional Program at the McCombs School of Business.

“Out of respect to the family, we are unable to share any other details. We are committed to helping fellow students mourning this death through university counseling services and other programs,” said the University Police Chief David Carter in a statement.
