SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Black Friday deals start early at the San Marcos Premium Outlet and Tanger Outlet drawing in bigger crowds and calling for more security.
People drive in from all over, like Regina Dixon from Louisiana. She says she plans on spending a couple thousand dollars on deals.
“I left out about 4 this morning to come to this Black Friday up here in Texas,” Dixon says.
She isn’t the only one who tried to get a head start today. Celina McGill with the San Marcos Premium Outlet says the National Retail Federation expects up to 135.8 million people will show during the Black Friday weekend.
That is why the San Marcos Police Department and security from both outlets have teamed up to add additional patrols.
As for traffic, there are certain exits that are closed. If you are coming from the Austin area, southbound on I-35 you would have to exit McCarty lane instead of Centerpoint Rd. But if you are going northbound on I-35 Centerpoint Road will be open as an exit.
A shuttle service will be offered to the Outlets, click here for more information.
