More than 2 dozen cars burglarized in Kyle

KYLE, Texas (KXAN) — The Kyle Police Department says they’ve arrested a man who admitted to breaking into more than two dozen vehicles over the past few weeks.

Police say 20-year-old Kendall McDowell is responsible for burglarizing vehicles in the Silverado and Spring Branch neighborhoods.

“We had 27 car burglaries over two nights,” Chief Jeff Barnett said in a press release.

During questioning, McDowell also provided authorities with information about a second burglar, who is now sought for questioning in connection with the incidents.

While one person is in custody, Chief Barnett wants to remind residents to lock their car doors and remain vigilant during the holiday season.

“Criminals look for the easiest targets,” he said. “They may walk several blocks and try every car door. If they find one open, it’s like a jackpot for them.”

Anyone with information on car burglaries should report it to the Kyle Police non-emergency number at 512-268-3232.
