Trees decorated along 360 to honor children with cancer

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Sunday Austinites continued a season tradition decorating trees along the Capitol of Texas highway, or 360, with Christmas baubles.

Folks came from all over to help with the Tree of Honor, decorating trees with over 900 ornaments to both honor children who have died from pediatric cancer, and encourage those still fighting it.

“Each one of these ornaments is not just a gold ornament. It represents a life. It represents this child’s fight. The family’s financial devastation. The emotional impact. It impacts communities, children,” said Sarah Rich, Founder of Go Gold Global Childhood Cancer Awareness Organization.

The decorated trees are meant to be conversation starters for those who drive by, raising awareness about the lack of funding for pediatric cancer research. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
