SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Police have arrested a man accused of setting fires in two San Marcos restaurants.

James David Burleigh, 28, was arrested Monday at 4:00 p.m. and faces charges on three counts of arson, a second-degree felony, according to the city of San Marcos.

He is awaiting arraignment at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center. Burleigh is accused of setting two separate restaurant fires: one at the Subway restaurant on SH 80 and two fires at the nearby Raising Cane’s restaurant on Monday afternoon.

Fire marshals give credit to quick action by the staff of both restaurants in putting out the fires lit in the men’s restrooms. There were no injuries in either restaurant.

Burleigh faces between two and 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 for each charge, if convicted.
