LEESBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A baby suffered critical injuries when she was struck in the head by a piece of concrete during a fight outside a home in Leesburg.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 10:30 on Monday night.
According to a case report, Michelle Kirkland, 30, of Tavares, showed up at Levi James Steere’s home to pay a debt she owed him.
Steere, age 32, told deputies that he and Kirkland got into an argument because he thought she was using stolen credit cards to repay the debt.
Steere told Kirkland to leave, which she did. But, according to the case report, she came back with her boyfriend, who threw a brick through a window of Steere’s home.
Steere told deputies that he picked up several pieces of concrete and threw them at Kirkland’s vehicle. Steere said he thought one chunk of concrete went into the vehicle through an open window. Another piece of concrete broke a rear window, causing it to shatter.
The baby was inside the vehicle and was hit in the head by a piece of concrete, according to WESH TV. The baby suffered a skull fracture.
Steere was arrested and charged with two counts of throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle, according to a case report.
