AUSTIN (KXAN) — The man who was stabbed to death after an altercation in East Austin on Monday has been identified as 37-year-old Billy Nolen.

Police say officers were called to the 5800 block of Sweeney Circle just after 8 p.m. for a disturbance involving two men fighting outside of the apartment. Witnesses told officers Nolen used to live at the apartment and he was trying to get his belongings from the apartment when he got into the argument with Beam.

Upon arrival, officers found Nolen with severe injuries. The other man, Michael Beam, 42, was found holding a knife. Police say Beam’s hands and pants were covered in blood. Nolen was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later.

Beam is currently in the Travis County Jail charged with murder.
