Americans ditching day jobs to become freelancers

U.S. (KXAN) — The number of Americans ditching their day jobs and deciding to be their own boss is growing.

Freelancers Union and Upwork.com released a new study that says 54 million Americans are doing freelance work. This is an increase of seven percent from last year.

Before making the jump, career experts recommend figuring out your budget and estimating the minimum earnings you need to cover your essentials.
