What to expect for week ahead in Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s a busy week ahead in Central Texas, here is a look at what to expect.

It’s the fourth Monday of the month and that means the Austin Public Safety Committee will meet later today. A couple of items on the agenda include police body cameras, the city’s sex offender ordinances, and South by Southwest safety. Council member Don Zimmerman is expected to voice concerns people have had.

Tomorrow, the city of Austin Park and Recreation Department wants your help to improve Zilker Park. Leaders are looking to fix up the Barton Springs Bathhouse Zone. The meeting will be at the Zilker Botanical Garden starting at 6 tomorrow evening.

Ensure your child’s safety with a car seat inspection.

Keep your kids safe on the road Wednesday. Williamson County Emergency Services will hold a car safety seat and booster event. Officials will inspect your car seat and help you make sure it’s in your car properly. To have a car seat inspected you must make an appointment ahead of time by calling (512)-943-1264. Don’t forget to bring your child to the event so they can be properly fitted to the car seat. The event is from 10 to 1 at the Jarrell Fire Station 2, located at 155 East County Road 313.

Thursday, the Austin Film Festival gets underway at Paramount Theater. Hundreds of films will be played over the next week. This is the 22nd year for the annual event.
