WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — If you often drive between Round Rock and Georgetown, you’ll notice the construction along IH-35 is finally wrapping up.
On Monday morning, Williamson County and the Texas Department of Transportation held a ribbon cutting for the IH-35 northbound frontage road and ramps project. The project constructed a new northbound frontage road on IH-35 from Westinghouse Road to SH 29 along with new ramps on and off IH-35.
The project also included three bridges, the longest bridge being a 600 foot bridge over the San Gabriel River.
The $20 million project started in 2013. Funding for the improvements was paid for with voter approved road bonds and a Pass-Through Financing Agreement with TxDOT, which will repay the county an anticipated $12 million based on road usage.
