Doctors warn teens of ecstasy disguised as candy

U.S. (KXAN) — When you were growing up, you were probably told not to accept Halloween candy that’s unwrapped. But police are warning about a new trend to be on the lookout for, especially for parents who have teens.

A picture put out by a police department in Mississippi is going viral. It looks like candy, but it’s actually ecstasy shaped to look like candy pieces.

Experts say partiers need to be more concerned about this than trick-or-treaters.

Emergency physician, Dr. Michele Petrucelli says “Maybe they’re going to a group party and there’s a bowl of something that appears to be candy someone reaches in somebody else thinks its funny to put one or two pills in there and that can really be a problem.”

Just one of the pills costs about ten dollars. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
