Austin Parks and Rec partnering with Barton Springs Conservancy

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Mayor Steve Adler announced the partnership between the Austin Parks and Rec Department and the Barton Springs Conservancy to improve an important part of the city.

Adler revealed they are working on improvement projects to fix up Zilker Park and Barton Springs pool.

The first project up for discussion is the Barton Springs Bathhouse, Which includes the rehabilitation of the Bathhouse and the following existing facilities: Barton Creek Trailhead, Hillside Theater, Eliza Springs, Zilker Café, Zilker Zepher, Zilker Playscape, Zilker Caretaker Cottage and the Pecan Grove Picnic Area. The project goals strive to improve user experience by providing enhanced pedestrian experiences and connectivity, improved signage for pedestrians and vehicular circulation, enhanced parking opportunities and upgrades to existing park amenities.

Project leaders want your input on any future improvements. You can voice your opinion at the meeting at Zilker Park Botanical Garden starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 27.
