F1 qualifying pushed back to Sunday morning

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Update: F1 has announced that if there is no clear sign of a break in the weather by 4 p.m., qualifying will be postponed until 9 a.m. on Sunday.


Gates at the Circuit of the Americas will not open until noon as heavy rain continues to fall and, the race track is making changes to its parking plans.

F1 fans are encouraged to use the downtown shuttle as continued heavy rain has prompted the Circuit of the Americas to alter its Saturday parking plans.

Fans with pre-paid parking passes will be able to use those passes in exchange for rides for four individuals on the shuttle. The shuttle picks up at the convention center at 4th and Trinity and drops off at the Grand Plaza at COTA.

Other parking changes for Circuit of the Americas are as follows:

Lots G, L, N       These grass lots will be closed and these patrons will need to use the downtown shuttle.
Lot E  Lot E permit holders should use Lot F.
Lot F Lot F will remain open, but encouraged to use downtown shuttle
Lot T Lot T permit holders should use Lot Q, located 1.5 miles east of COTA along FM 812 near Maldonado Trail.
973 PARK N RIDE 973 pre-paid permits should use the paved Southeast Metropolitan Park (located on the north side of SH 71 at Ross)or Del Valle High School (located on east side of Ross south of SH 71).
Lots A, B, C, D, H These paved lots will remain open for pre-paid permits only.
