World’s most wanted drug boss narrowly escapes capture

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman

SINALOA, Mexico (KXAN) — The world’s most wanted drug boss has just barely escaped getting caught.

The search for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is heating up.

Last week in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, Mexican Marine Special Forces came close to catching Guzman, who hurt himself before slipping away.

Officials say people in the area are making it hard for them to find El Chapo because of their allegiance to the criminal.

Guzman, the head of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, escaped from his high-security prison cell in July, Shawshank Redemtion style, through a specially dug tunnel. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
