AUSTIN (KXAN) — An employee of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts died Tuesday night after being hit by a car in the office’s parking lot just north of the state capitol.

A representative with the Texas Department of Public Safety says that at around 10:26 a.m. Tuesday morning, Patricia Raimondo, 60, was walking across the parking lot at North Congress Avenue and East 16th Street when she was hit by an SUV driven by 58-year-old Ruth Soucy.

Raimondo was taken to University Medical Center Brackendridge where she died just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

DPS say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed. Soucy stayed at the scene after the incident. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
