PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (KXAN) — A city councilman near Houston says he still doesn’t know why a police officer tased him.
A friend of 26-year-old Jonathan Miler recorded the moment when a Prairie View officer used his taser. Friends say a group of people were rehearsing a homecoming dance outside Miller’s apartment when an officer came up to them.
The officer’s body cameras shows the different angles of the encounter. According to the officer, Miller was “interfering” and would be arrested.
However, Miller says the officer never explained what he was doing wrong.
“He stepped me back and I stepped back- you know, I didn’t, I didn’t you know fight him,” said Miller. “I asked him to keep his hands off me please, and I stepped back. You know, I got out the way I wasn’t talking to them anymore, I left it alone.”
The police chief says the incident is under investigation.
