SOUTH CAROLINA (WTNH) – A two-year-old South Carolina boy shot his grandmother after finding a gun in the car he was riding in.
The Associated Press reports that the 40-year-old woman is expected to survive after she was shot in the back by the toddler on Sunday afternoon.
Police say she and the boy were riding in her sister’s car when the toddler found a .357 revolver in the pouch on the back of the front seat. He then picked it up and fired it.
Police are still deciding on whether to charge the victim’s sister because she owns the gun. They are also investigating to find out whether the toddler was in a car seat or if any gun laws were broken.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
