Female football captain in Georgia becoming game changer

GEORGIA (KXAN) — A football player from Georgia is becoming a game changer.

Rachel Eaves joined her middle school football team last year as a linebacker. One year later and she is now the captain of the team.

Even though she has been playing this game for years, in the last 12 months this eighth grader has learned a lot about football and even more about herself.

Her stepdad, Travis Burchett, said “She’s become a much more mature player. She understands the system a lot better. She understands her role as a defense captain. She understands her role as a blocker.”

Her parents say they couldn’t be prouder of her transformation as a player.

Rachel isn’t sure if she’ll play football in high school; although her coaches say she has the talent to do so.
