Car hits pole on N. Lamar, driver arrested on DWI suspicion

Crashes into pole on Lamar, arrested for DWI suspicion.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are responding to a call that a car hit a pole on North Lamar Boulevard and West 24 Street. The driver was arrested on suspicion of a DWI.

The crash has shut down this are of Lamar while the pole is down. APD says the area between 24th and 25th will remain closed for three more hours to repair the telephone pole.

APD says there are no injuries to report, but the pole is underneath the car.

Austin Energy was called out to fix the fallen pole. Until then southbound Lamar Blvd will be shut down.
