AUSTIN (KXAN) — Key officials discussed the future of transportation at a forum in Austin Wednesday afternoon.
U.S. Undersecretary for Transportation Peter Rogoff and Austin Mayor Steve Adler hosted the event, focusing on the draft report, “Beyond Traffic”, which will examine the choices facing America’s transportation infrastructure over the next three decades.
The report states increased gridlock will occur nationwide unless changes are made soon.
Feedback from the event will be incorporated into the final report to be published in 2016. Metropolitan Planning Organization directors, transportation industry partners, business owners and community leaders were given the opportunity to give ideas for possible solutions to area transportation challenges.
Tom Lambert, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County President and CEO, and Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Director Christopher Evelia were also featured speakers at the forum.
The event was held at the Asian American Resource Center on Cameron Road at 1:30 p.m.
