Stony Point High School evacuated for electrical outage

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Students were evacuated from Stony Point High School Wednesday morning after an electrical outage in the cafeteria caused a burning smell.

Officials report there was not a fire, although there was minimal smoke in the area. The evacuation decision was a point of precaution for students.

Electrical crews are working on the issue.

According to Round Rock ISD, the evacuation occurred around 8:15 a.m. The school was evacuated three times this morning because of issues in restoring the power.

The high school reopened for classes at 10:00 a.m.
