KYLE, Texas (KXAN) — A man involved in an ongoing sexual assault investigation in North Texas was arrested Tuesday night at an apartment complex in Kyle by the Lone State Fugitive Task Force.
Cory Shane Harris, 38, from Irving, recently relocated to the Austin-area and failed to register as a sex offender following his sexual assault conviction in 2008, according to a release by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Harris was arrested once officers confirmed his identity after they conducted surveillance at a known location he was living.
“Fugitive sex offenders will remain an enforcement priority for the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force,” said Robert Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to hold these fugitives accountable.”
Harris’ extradition to the Dallas County Jail is pending while he is held at the Hays County Detention Center in San Marcos.
