AUSTIN (KXAN) — An overturned 18-wheeler on U.S. 183 at SH 45 in Cedar Park is causing traffic to back-up in the area. Police say the truck crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. and is currently blocking the southbound U.S. 183 ramp to eastbound SH 45.

The truck also lost its load, some of which fell onto the frontage road below. It is not clear if any vehicles were damaged from the items from the truck. Photographs from KXAN viewers show the truck carrying large blue piping.

The truck driver does not have any major injuries. Police say the driver will be cited for failure to control speed.

Bryan Deras works at the nearby IHOP and heard the pipes falling to the ground.

“It kind of looked like a tornado went by and started throwing everything around because some were falling straight down here, some were bouncing off of things and going all over the place,” said Deras. “It shook for a good four or five seconds, not even exaggerating.”

Head over to our Traffic Page to find out which route you can take around the crash. By 4:30 p.m., all lanes of U.S. 183 are back open but the ramp is still blocked.
