KXAN (AUSTIN) — One….. two… three… four… five….
There are five pedestrian crosswalks on Riverside between South 1st Street and South Lamar Boulevard. However only one pedestrian crossing has the button that works.

Four of the crossings don’t light up to warn drivers about pedestrians trying to cross the street. We spotted several people crossing without the lights.
Tammi Sweet lives in the area and has seen it grow. With more traffic, plus music festivals happening in this area, she says the City of Austin needs to fix the problem.

“I live in the neighborhood, I’ve seen such a change and it needs to be addressed.”

Within an hour of KXAN News reaching out to the city of Austin about the pedestrian crossings, crews were on scene repairing the issue. The affected crosswalk lights in the area are now operational.
