Leander man charged with intoxication manslaughter in deadly 183A crash

LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A Leander man is charged with intoxication manslaughter after police say he ran into another vehicle that left one person dead late Saturday night.

Leander 183 FatalLeander police say Patrick Hunt, 26, was driving his Toyota pickup southbound on 183A frontage road just before 10:30 p.m. when he collided with a Chevrolet pickup being driven by Frederick Lowe, 74, of Mesa, Calif. Lowe’s wife, Kathleen Lowe, 70, died in the crash. Frederick was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Police say the Lowe’s were visiting family in the area.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hunt told a DPS trooper that “he had two Blue Moon brand beers at about 8 p.m.”

Hunt posted a $20,000 bond and released from the Williamson County Jail on Sept. 27.
