DWI suspected in deadly Leander crash on 183A

Patrick Hunt, 26, of Leander has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

LEANDER (KXAN) — At least one person is dead after a crash at the intersection of U.S. 183 and 183A Toll Road in Leander.

According to police, the crash involved two vehicles and happened around 11 p.m. Saturday. Patrick Hunt, 26, of Leander was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and has been charged with Intoxication manslaughter. He is being held at the Williamson County Jail on $20,000 bond.

The second driver, Frederick Lowe, 74, of Mesa, California was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Police confirm that the passenger in his vehicle, Kathleen Lowe, 70, of Mesa, California, was killed in the crash. The family of Kathleen has been notified at this time.

The intersection was shut down as officers investigated, but has since reopened.
