AUSTIN (KXAN) – A woman who crossed four lanes of traffic and collided with another car on Highway 71 near Bee Cave on Monday evening had a blood-alcohol level of .339 and several previous DWI convictions, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police arrested Christine Quinlan, 50, outside a H-E-B grocery store near the intersection of 71 and Bee Cave Road. Investigators said Quinlan crossed all four lanes of traffic in a 2002 Toyota 4-Runner and collided with another car at about 9 p.m, the affidavit states.
Police said Quinlan has been convicted of DWI four times since 2003, including twice in Travis County in 2003 and 2010. She has been charged with a 3rd-degree felony in this latest case.
Emergency medical services responders transported Quinlan to a St. David’s Urgent Care. Officers administered a portable breath test that showed Quinlan over four times the legal limit. Separate “intoxilizer” tests showed Quinlan had blood alcohol levels of .283 and .272, according to the arrest warrant.
Officers said Quinlan broke her arm in the accident, and she could not stand on her own at the hospital.
