AUSTIN (KXAN) — Governor Gregg Abbott named a familiar face to his committee on People With Disabilities on Wednesday.

KXAN profiled Archer Hadley when he launched a wheelchair fundraiser last year to install automatic doors at Austin High. He raised over $87,000 to make it easier for students on wheels to get around campus.

Now the UT student belongs to a committee that includes other experts in the field of accessibility and rights for those living with disabilities. The group will recommend changes to policies and programs, as well as promoting awareness.

In addition to being an Eagle Scout and volunteer counselor for Camp Grace and Pathways, Hadley was the subject of a documentary that was honored by President Obama at the White House.
