September brings attention to childhood cancer

AUSTIN (KXAN) — September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. As Austin’s population increases, so does the demand for pediatric oncology services. The Children’s Blood and Cancer Center at Dell Children’s sees 100 diagnosed cases of cancer in kids each year.

Dr. Shannon Cohn with Dell Children’s joins us in the studio to talk about the issue of childhood cancer, new treatments, and diagnosis.

For more information on how to support children by attending the Give Hope Event and Concert, visit their website here.

A rally is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the State Capitol to show support for children battling cancer and their families. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
