AUSTIN (KXAN) — A humanitarian drive to build more homes in Austin for those in need continues to gain momentum.
This drive has resulted in the Community First! Village, a 27 acre master plan with affordable small homes. These homes are primarily used for the disabled and the homeless in Central Texas.
The Village the brainchild of Mobile Loaves and Fishes, which has been helping people since 1998. Thanks to local builders offering their time, talent and tools, homes are going up in the value range of $10-thousand to $25-thousand.
On Saturday Structura builders lent their efforts to build two more micro homes over the weekend.
The Community First Village aims for 250 homes on the property, and they are about one-third of the way there.
