HOUSTON (AP) — A prosecutor says the remains of one of three homeless men found at an abandoned Houston warehouse belong to the father of another homeless man charged in two of the deaths.

Prosecutor Justin Wood said Friday that Jamie Walter is a suspect in all three deaths. Walter has been charged with capital murder in two.

Wood says authorities believe one set of remains was Steven Walter, the suspect’s father.

Wood says investigators are still trying to determine a motive. Wood said the victims were killed in April and June.

Jamie Walter’s attorney, James Stafford, says his client has a long history of mental illness. Stafford said Walter was “very remorseful.”

The 27-year-old Walter, who appeared in court Friday, remains jailed without bond. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
