Fayette County Sheriff’s Office stops ‘elaborate’ eBay scam

FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – Investigators with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Officer say they have stopped an ‘elaborate’ eBay scam that saw numerous items being shipped to a home in the county.

Investigators conducted a lengthy investigation after receiving several out-of-state reports that items shipped to a home in the county were not paid for.

Investigators determined that a person connected to the home had befriended a person on Facebook that had asked them to ship items received to Nigeria.

Deputies recovered several items from the home, including PlayStation 4’s and watches. They are working to return them to their owners.

FCSO said they are classifying the Fayette County resident as a victim of the scam, as well as those who reported suspicious activity.

It’s not yet known if he will receive charges for his part in the scam
