AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Transportation Security Administration has said it over and over again, but it’s worth repeating: do not bring realistic looking explosives to an airport.
On Thursday, an inert (not live) grenade was found in a passenger’s checked bag at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Even though it wasn’t a live grenade, TSA agents still had to check the item with the explosives detection K9 team to ensure that it wasn’t dangerous.
“It’s a reminder to passengers that they shouldn’t pack realistic looking explosives in either carry-on on checked bags,” says a spokesperson for the TSA.
Realistic looking or inert grenades can’t fly at all. TSA can issue fines for items such as this.
