Austin woman given new home after losing everything in floods

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One Austin homeowner is finally being given some relief after losing everything in the deadly Halloween floods of 2013.

The Austin sector of Habitat for Humanity is raising the walls on a new home in Southeast Austin for Sylvia Gonzalez.

After two years living with her son, Gonzalez said she is over-joyed to be getting a new home and is appreciative of everyone who lent a hand building it.

The home is part of Habitat for Humanity’s annual tech build, sponsored by Silicon Labs.

The walls went up around 8 a.m. Sept. 9.
