AUSTIN (KXAN) — 911 calls released by the Austin Police Department detail the fiery aftermath of a crash that killed four men on Sunday, Aug. 30.

“Oh my God, it crashed through the wall,” says one woman who called 911 to report a fire coming from the Arbor Walk shopping center in North Austin. As the caller made her way closer to the car, she noticed there was someone inside the car. “You’re going to need a coroner.”

Police say the driver in a white 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on North Capital of Texas Highway when he crashed into the retaining wall of the northbound frontage road of North MoPac. Once the vehicle crashed through the barrier, it went airborne and crashed into a building below and burst into flames.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office says they have not scientifically identified the bodies, but family members tell KXAN News the deceased are: Jacobo Gallegos, 21; Daniel Rubio, 28; Pedro Aguilar, 24; and Christian Hernandez.
