Dachshund steals the show at El Paso Chihuahua’s baseball game

EL PASO, Texas (KXAN) — A dachshund was the big event at a game usually dominated by Chihuahuas.

The El Paso Chihuahuas, a Triple-A team affiliated with the San Diego Padres hosted a Weiner Dog Race Saturday night offering the fastest competitor $500 in cash.

Eight dachshunds lined-up at the start, but only three managed to find their way to the finish line as the others were distracted by the new sounds and smells.

Competitor #3, finishing second, was determined to come out of the night top dog-and led its owner and baseball players on a two minute long chase around the park.

The El Paso Chihuahua’s lost Saturday’s game 4 to 1.
