Austin police searching for serial cigarette thief

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police Department is seeking information leading to the arrest of a man they say has been stealing cigarettes around the city.

According to APD, the suspect forced his way into businesses by breaking the front glass door or window and immediately went for the cigarette display inside the store.

The man is described as:                                         theft suspect
• Hispanic
• Mid-30s to mid-40s
• Close-shaved head/bald
• 3D star tattoo on left elbow

He was seen driving mid-sized sedan, possibly a Saturn, a silver SUV, and a U-Haul-style box truck.

The burglaries happened at nine places around town; two of them were hit twice.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Gorham at 512-974-5451.
