AUSTIN (KXAN) – Friday morning more than 7,400 students moved on to the University of Texas campus for the up coming school year.
Hundreds of volunteers welcomed the new students and will continue to help them move into the 14 different on-campus residence halls through Saturday.
UT officials said the 2019 class is made up of students from 46 different states, 51 countries and six continents. The university said 72 percent of the new residents will be freshman.
To help make sure the big move goes well, 400 volunteers will be on hand to help get items out of cars, answer questions, and direct new students.
President Gregory L., Fenves will be at the central check-in at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday to greet the new students.
UT said it will offer a series of Longhorn Welcome free events for the incoming first-year and transfer students. For a full schedule of events, click here.
