AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) — A passionate debate over short-term rentals in Austin. Many people in the community are upset over the changes city leaders will consider next month.

The publisher of the Austin Monitor, Mike Kanin, joins us in the KXAN studio to break down the debate.

Next month, council members will vote on a six person limit for short-term rentals. Owners of the rentals would also be required to register guests with the city of Austin.

They will also consider changing the limit of people per bedroom to two.

Specifically bachelorette and bachelor parties will also be prohibited.

These possible changes will be discussed during the council and committee meeting in September.
