AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin man was arrested in a sting targeting online child predators.

In a joint operation between the Texas Attorney General’s Office and the Brenham Police Department, four men were arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor. The agencies said they focused on child predators who utilize the Internet to sexually solicit and then travel with the intent of committing sex crimes against minors.

Austin Bishop, 32, of Austin was arrested along with Timmy Varela, 22, of Bellville; Montreyle Devon McCormick, 24, of Plano; and Chad Christian Clift, 35, of College Station.

Bishop is currently out on bond.

Attorney General Paxton urges all parents and teachers to realize the risks our children face online, and take steps to help ensure their children’s safety.
