AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s tee time! After being closed for most of the year for renovations, the Jimmy Clay Golf Course reopened to golfers on Saturday.
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department closed down the course so they could core out the greens and replant them with Tif Dwarf Bermuda grass — which has done well on other city golf courses.
In addition, four of the greens on holes #9 and #18 were reshaped and changes were made to the greens complex on holes #4 and #5 to improve playability. The remaining greens were resurfaced and reconstructed with a new drainage system.
