AUSTIN (KXAN) – UPDATE: Austin police say a SWAT situation in Northwest Austin ended peacefully Thursday morning.
According to Austin Police Sgt. Anthony Hipolito, Wednesday night officers went to an apartment at the Canyon Resort at Great Hills at 8701 Bluffstone Cove.
Sgt. Hipolito said they were serving a warrant on a 27-year-old woman who had five outstanding felony warrants for drug possession.
Police said the woman refused to come out.
Sgt. Hipolito said other officers on the scene saw the woman had a gun in her hand.
He said the officers believed she was suicidal.
When the SWAT Team was called out, Sgt. Hipolito said the officers were able to convince the woman to come out and surrender before 1 a.m.
Sgt. Hipolito said she was taken into custody peacefully.
He also said because officers thought she was suicidal, she would be checked out by mental health officers before she was taken to jail.
Sgt. Hipolito said the woman could possibly face an additional charge because she was a felon who had a gun.
