NEW YORK (AP) — Images of endangered species projected onto The Empire State Building sheds light onto the depleting number of endangered animals.

Spectators gathered the night of August 1 to witness the live video projection on the south side of the iconic landmark.

According to WPRI the images of endangered animals included birds, tigers, and bears.

The goal of the event was to raise awareness about mass extinction. Additionally the projections advertised for the new Discovery Channel documentary, Racing Extinction, which will be aired in December.
