AUSTIN (KXAN) — Five people are being treated for injuries they sustained after a neighborhood fight in East Austin on Thursday morning.

Police say around 11 a.m. three family members were fighting in front of a home in the 5700 block of Tracy Lynn when the homeowner came out and asked them to get off her yard. During the exchange, the homeowner’s family came out to try to protect her but a knife was pulled out and three people were stabbed and two were cut, according to Austin police. A total of eight people were involved in the melee.

The homeowner’s daughter said the people originally involved in the fight live next door.

Several of the victims tried to drive themselves to the hospital, but ended up stopping in the 1800 block of Springdale Road, where they ended up getting assistance from Austin-Travis County EMS.
