AUSTIN (KXAN) — Former Texas Governor Rick Perry challenged Donald Trump to a pull-up contest in response to Trump questioning Perry’s brain power.

One of Perry’s GOP rivals, Donald Trump, added fuel to the war of words between him and Perry July 29. After Perry’s speech in New York City’s financial district a reporter asked Perry if he had any comments on Trump saying that he does not belong on the debate stage; questioning his energy, toughness, and brain power to run a successful campaign.

Perry smiled and said if Trump was standing in his presence making those comments he would “get out a pull up bar and see who can do the most pull-ups.” This response produced a lot of laughter from the audience.

One of the harshest critics of Trump, Perry has called for the real estate mogul to drop out the race.

In his speech Perry said if he was elected he would not bail out Wall Street Banks if there was ever a future market crash. Perry also laid out bank regulation reforms he has planned. He was quoted saying he believes that he stands out from the Washington insiders running as an outsider who can bring change.
