Man who ran from Austin warrant found in Ohio

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A man accused of hitting a woman with the butt of a handgun and wrapping an extension cord around another woman’s neck is now in jail.

Juan Jesus Reyna, 41, was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on May 1 according to Austin police. He had assaulted the women at a home in the 7500 block of Dixon Lane. One of the women had escaped and was able to alert authorities. Reyna fled before they arrived.

Reyna was arrested Friday afternoon by the United States Marshal Service in rural Mercer County in the Southern District of Ohio. Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force conducted an extensive fugitive investigation that led to his arrest.

He is currently in custody of law enforcement officials awaiting extradition to Travis County to face the assault charge. He has a combined bond set at $220,000.

“I am pleased with the collaborative efforts of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the United States Marshals Service of the Southern District of Ohio for placing this case at the highest level of priority,” said Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas.”All of the offices involved played a key role in ensuring this violent fugitive will be held accountable for his actions.”
