Home builders offer lessons to flood victims in Wimberley

Members of the Greater Austin Home Builders Association spend their Saturday morning giving flood victims lessons and tips on repairing their homes.

WIMBERLEY, Texas (KXAN) — The town of Wimberley is still recovering following the flooding that happened during Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday the Greater Austin Home Builders Association taught flood victims tips on repairing their homes and ways not to get ripped off when doing so.

“I think we learned some things, I learned some things to know that unless it’s a local business don’t give them any money up front for repairs or remodeling or any of the contracting whether its air conditioning, plumbing, debris removal, electrical work. If it’s a local business, it’s okay to give them a deposit or payment up front but if they’re not, then you really shouldn’t do that,” said State Representative Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs).

For homeowners who couldn’t make it to the meeting, another meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 29th at 6:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center on Ranch Road 12.
