BLANCO, Texas (KXAN) — Blanco County took a big step Monday following the Memorial Day weekend flooding that took lives and property.
Crews contracted out through the county started removing large amounts of debris that have been piling up for the last month. The major clean-up effort, which clears the way for families to start rebuilding, will be happening until July 2. Citizens were asked to stack debris along the road for pickup. For those families unable to move their debris to the roadway, there will be a second debris pick-up after the July 4th weekend.
The county says the outpouring of support has been tremendous, but more help is needed. The Blanco Flood Assistance Center is in need of volunteers with the following resources and tools:
- Skid steers
- Front end loaders
- Field fencing
- Road repair material such as culverts and gravel
Anyone willing to help is urged to contact the Blanco Flood Assistance Center at 830-833-3244 or via email.
