City of Hutto gathers for Sgt. Chris Kelley’s honor procession

HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — Hutto neighbors and people from surrounding towns gathered to pay their respects to Sgt. Chris Kelley as his honor procession made its way to a private rosary Sunday afternoon.

The City of Hutto sent out a release earlier Sunday to let neighbors know about the procession and its route, and they encouraged the community to line the roads holding flags provided by the Hutto Lions Club.

“The police department here is a wonderful police department; they have a great reputation. They work really hard to work with the community, and for this to happen to one of those police officers is a real shame. And we all feel the loss,” said Charles Holland, a member of the Hutto Lions Club.

The honor procession began at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home around 4 p.m. and ended at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Kelley will be laid to rest on Tuesday morning at the Shoreline Christian Church in North Austin.
